Wetlands
During development of the proposed Wild Horse Reservoir Project design, Aurora Water worked within the site’s topography to identify a dam location that would avoid and minimize impacts to wetlands and other state waters to the greatest extent practicable. To evaluate potential impacts to wetlands and water quality conditions, Aurora Water has submitted an application to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) under the Regulation 87 Dredge and Fill program.
To offset anticipated environmental impacts from the project, Aurora Water has proposed a mitigation plan designed to replace and improve the affected aquatic resources. The proposed mitigation would be in the same watershed as the proposed project to support the local hydrology and habitat. More details are available in “Section 6: Mitigation” of Aurora Water’s Individual Authorization application under Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Regulation 87 Dredge and Fill program.
